Meeting good teachers, helpful friends, having extraordinary potency of personality are the most rare and precious things in the world. However, for achieving that intention is not hard. Because there is a teacher like this in Maple Leaf International School, Mr.Jenkins, and his existence is just like the star which shines in summer night.
Although I am not in his class, I still know that there is a teacher who is respected by all the students. Because at the beginning of this semester, I have heard something from my classmates: Mr.Jenkins’ style of lecturing is enjoyable, but he is serious to the curriculum, and class activity.Furthermore, he is in a foreign country, but there is no estrangement between him and us, he always keeps a gentlemanly demeanour.
Solving the problems on study which every high school students will confused, and setting a benchmark in the direction of improving quality. In Maple Leaf, he completely interprets the sentence“The greatest benevolence is like water”.

The interview happened in the mail.
Why did you choose to be a literature teacher?
Ichose to become a literature teacher because I always loved English class, but some of my teachers were a little boring! I try to create activities for my students that will give them a more engaging experience than I had in high school. I know English isn't everyone's favourite subject, but I hope I can give students a rich experience that stays in their memory for many years.
Can you recommend some books which you like and want to share with us?
I really enjoyed 'Refugee' by Alan Gratz. The reading level is fairly easy for high school students. It connects to a lot of global issues that we are hearing about these days, and it encourages students to reflect on the idea of migration and moving to a new country. I also encourage students to read more non-fiction. There are a ton of books out there for every interest, even if it's sports or science.
Did you feel happy or difficult in the process of teachingin MapleLeaf?
I am incredibly happy to spend my days with Maple Leaf students! The students here are very hardworking and thoughtful. My previous experience was in elementary and middle school, but I love teaching high school the most because I get to have interesting conversations with students. The only frustration I have is that students here are too quiet! In Canada, students are sometimes too noisy, but it's the opposite situation here. I want to encourage students to speak to each other in class more.
Can you tell me something about your class?
In my classes I am trying to expand the activities beyond literature to include movies, music, news articles and internet resources. It's 2019, so I want students to have tools that help them navigate the world we actually live in. Books are the solid foundation of learning, but students also need skills to interpret digital media and the online world. In my classes this semester, I will be giving students the chance to create a project of their own interest and document it as an assignment.
