上周四，前美國(guó)佛蒙特州州長(zhǎng)Peter Shumlin訪問(wèn)中芯學(xué)校，由周校董、校長(zhǎng)及中、英文高中學(xué)生會(huì)代表共同接待。Peter Shumlin與同學(xué)們一起探討全球天氣變化所帶來(lái)的影響，關(guān)注新能源及保護(hù)環(huán)境的議題，希望學(xué)生成為世界公民, 承擔(dān)青年領(lǐng)袖的責(zé)任。演講結(jié)束后，十多位同學(xué)紛紛踴躍發(fā)言提問(wèn)。在離校時(shí)，Peter Shumlin表示此次行程對(duì)中芯學(xué)校印象深刻，對(duì)學(xué)生的提問(wèn)給予很高的評(píng)價(jià)，他稱贊學(xué)生們的獨(dú)立思考能力強(qiáng)，問(wèn)題很有深度，希望今后能有機(jī)會(huì)再次與他們交流。

On Thursday, former US Governor Vermont Peter Shumlin visited SMIC, which was hosted by Chancellor Chou, Principal Ridings and MHS Student Council. Governor Shumlin and our students explored the impact of global weather changes, focused on new energy and environmental protection issues, and discussed ways for young people to become global citizens and assume their responsibilities as young leaders. After his presentation, Governor Shumlin hosted a question and answer session. The Governor was very impressed with our students and praised them for their ability to see the bigger picture when it comes to economics and the environment.

Peter Shumlin此次上海行程共拜訪了兩所學(xué)校，作為被拜訪的學(xué)校之一，能有機(jī)會(huì)與前任州長(zhǎng)近距離對(duì)話，我們深感榮幸。學(xué)校今后會(huì)繼續(xù)邀請(qǐng)更多嘉賓到校演講，提供師生拓展全球視野的機(jī)會(huì)。

We were very honored to be one of the two schools Governor Shumlin visited in Shanghai. It was a wonderful experience for our students to have such close and meaningful interaction with him. The school will continue to invite guest speakers to provide sharing of valuable information and experience to help the students and teachers to expand their global horizons.
