Congratulations to our fifteen students who participated in the recently concluded Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) China. The 4-day conference was held March 21-24, 2019 in Beijing and almost 1000 students participated, from over a hundred schools across China and around the world.

2019年3月21日至24日，來自中國和世界各地100多所學校的近1000名學生參加了在北京舉辦的哈佛模擬聯合國（HMUN）。我們的15名學生也參與了這項會議，祝賀他們！

Students, referred to here as ‘delegates’, were tasked to represent countries in different United Nations (UN) organizations and committees. Each delegate needed to work with other delegates in solving current global issues such as peace and conflict, climate change, environmental degradation, and other issues related to human development and sustainability. Delegates engaged in speaking and debating, and in writing position papers and resolutions. With the various HMUN activities, the delegates further developed their critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership skills.

中國的HMUN是世界上資格最老的模擬聯合國會議——哈佛模擬聯合國的分支之一。學生們是“各國代表”，他們的任務是代表不同聯合國組織和委員會中的國家。每個代表都需要與其他代表合作，解決當前的全球問題，如和平與沖突、氣候變化、環境問題以及與人類發展和可持續發展有關的其他問題。代表們需要演講、辯論、撰寫立場文件和決議。代表們通過HMUN的各種活動，進一步發展了他們的批判性思維、協作和領導能力。

The school’s delegation, which was headed by Sofiya (G11), is comprised of high school students from Grade 9-11. They represented Saudi Arabia and the Central African Republic across 8 UN committees. Each one of them delivered strong and noteworthy speeches and position papers. Five representatives of the FDIS delegation received individual awards for their exceptional display of public speaking, knowledge of diplomacy and international relations, and their substantial contribution to their assigned UN committees.

我校9-11年級的高中生組成的學校代表團由Sofiya（G11）領導，代表沙特阿拉伯和中非共和國參與了8個聯合國委員會，每個人都以演講和立場文件呈現了優秀素質與良好風貌。5名代表因在公共演講、外交知識、國際關系方面的出色表現，以及對其委員會作出的重大貢獻，獲得了個人獎項。

In addition to the 6 conference sessions, the delegates were able to witness a showcase of different cultures in the Global Village, and to socialize with other delegates at the Delegate Dance.

除了他們所參與的6次委員會的議程外，代表們還欣賞了地球村不同文化的展演，并在舞會中與其他代表交流。

The FDIS delegates not only learned much from this experience but also gained new friends, new insights about the world, found their voices, and became agents of change.

我校代表不僅在這一活動中學習到了很多，還結交了新朋友，對世界有了新的見解，找到了自己的立場，成為了變革的推動者。
