Pudong Campus | Fascinating Career Day

When we were kids, we always looked forward to growing up, because when we grow up, we can do a lot of things that we always wanted to do. There are so many interesting careers in the adult world that kids are filled with curiosity about. This week, to satisfy their curiosity, Pudong Campus invited ten parents from different professions to give them a very special and unique personal growth class.

The ten lectures were sorted into different themes and arranged in different rooms beforehand. Students made choices according to their interests in advance. In order to provide students with a great experience, parents also made excellent preparations.

By no surprise, there were many students waiting for the “Adventure of Disneyland.” In this lecture, Alex's mother shared her experiences of working in the Marketing department of Shanghai Disneyland. Based on her true stories, students realized that not only the lovely cartoon characters contribute a lot in making Disneyland popular around the world, but also the heroes who work hard behind the scenes. Some lucky students even earned prizes thanks to their great performance in the Q&A part. Every big company starts off small, even Disney. The students who attended "How to Start a Company," under the guidance of Hallie's mother, conducted a book trading activity to test whether students acquired the knowledge to help them earn the most profit with the lowest cost. During the "International Trading" lecture, students were told about the history of international trading and Dora's mother helped the students work as groups to simulate the good transactions between various countries. Meanwhile, in the room of "Work in a Law Firm," Nicholas's father and his students tried to negotiate and sign reasonable contracts for their clients as lawyers.

In addition to these serious careers, in the lecture of "How to Write a Good Story", Sean's mother taught the students very practical writing skills, but also made many students yearn for the writer's life. Obviously, what makes students even more excited is everything they want to know about games. So in the lecture of "Music and Game", students realized how many steps it requires for a game to move from design to release, and how to pick out those games which are suitable for children? The students listened attentively in fear of missing any details. Speaking of games, how can you miss the lecture of the future? In the lecture of "What Will Happen When the Young Generations Grow up", Eva's father pictured out a fantastic future for the students, which made them curious about technology and innovation. In the lecture of "Yoga and Health", students could do more than sitting and listening. Jerry's mother asked students to stand up and do yoga together, and even the teacher couldn't help joining in. So many professions, mostly for human beings, but still there was someone who doesn’t forget about the earth and its animals. Stanley's father advocated "Animal Protection", hoping that the children will not forget their responsibilities as global citizens, protecting the earth on which we live and protecting the animals that live here with us.

In these ten lectures, students gained more than just knowledge to feed their curiosity. Although this special personal growth class has already finished, those dreams about future careers are just starting to shape the students’ minds.

長大后我就變成了你

小時候的我們總是期待長大，因為長大了以后就可以去做很多自己想做的事情。大人的世界里有那么多有趣的職業，讓孩子們充滿好奇。為了滿足孩子們的好奇心，本周，浦東校區邀請到了十位來自不同職業領域的家長，給孩子們上了一堂不同尋常的成長課。

因為家長們來自各不相同的職業領域，因此講座也被劃分成不同主題的會場，學生們事先根據自己的興趣愛好來做選擇。為了上好這一堂課，爸爸媽媽們也是做了充分的準備。

“探索迪士尼”的會場早已人頭攢動，在這里，Alex的媽媽和學生們分享了她在上海迪士尼市場部工作的經歷。從中，學生們了解到，迪士尼之所以能有今天的成功，被全世界的人所喜愛，并不只是因為有那些可愛的卡通人物，也有幕后辛勤經營著的英雄。而每一個認真聆聽分享的學生也收獲了來自迪士尼的禮物。能收獲的當然不只是歡樂，在“如何開始一門生意”會場，學生們在Hallie媽媽的指導下，進行了一場圖書交易的活動，考驗學生們能否運用在講座中學到的知識，用最低的成本獲得最多的回報。不僅如此，在“國際交易”會場，Dora媽媽給學生們講解了人類的交易從很早以前就不局限于距離，而學生們也以小組為單位，模擬各個國家進行跨國交易。而在 “律師事務所的工作日常”會場里，Nicholas爸爸帶著學生們嘗試了，作為律師，如何為自己的客戶商討并簽訂出合理的合同。

除了這些一本正經的職業之外，在“怎么寫一個好故事”會場，Sean媽媽傳授給了學生們非常實用的寫作技巧，也令很多學生對作家的生活心生向往。當然，更令學生們心潮澎湃的當然是在“音樂與游戲”會場學習有關游戲制作的種種趣事啦，一款游戲從設計到誕生要經歷哪些環節，怎樣篩選出適合孩子們的游戲，學生們全神貫注地聽著，生怕錯過一個細節。說到游戲，怎么能不說說未來的生活呢，在“長大后的未來會是怎樣的”會場，Eva爸爸給學生們勾畫出一幅充滿幻想的未來圖景，讓學生們對科技和創新都充滿好奇。而在另一邊的“瑜伽與健康”會場，Jerry媽媽還帶著學生們一起做起來瑜伽，連老師也忍不住要加入進來。這么多的職業，大多數是為人類服務，但依然不會有人忘記我們最好的朋友，所以在“如何保護動物”會場，Stanley的爸爸向學生們發起了倡導，希望孩子們不要忘記自己做一個世界公民的責任，保護我們賴以生存的地球，保護地球上的動物們。

在這十個會場中，學生們都收獲了很多足以喂飽他們好奇心的知識。這堂成長課雖然很快就結束了，但關于理想和對未來的憧憬的小小種子卻已經悄悄埋下。
