德克薩斯州居民來說，如果你在高中排名前10％，你就有資格獲得大多數德克薩斯州公立大學的錄取。德克薩斯大學奧斯汀分校的學校要求稍高一些，需要德州高中新生申請者中排名前6％才能保證入學。國際學生滿足在德州4年學習時間，也適用于此原則，這也是德州奧斯汀越來越難錄取的原因之一。
休斯頓大學，還提供了如下保證錄取條件：
班級中排名前11-25％并且SAT上1080分或在ACT21分以上的；
班級中排名前26-50％并且SAT1170分或在ACT24分的以上的；
對于加州居民來說，如果高中排名前9%，可以進入任何一所加州大學分校。
