璀璨歷史萬古千秋 | 清華附中國際部舉辦2019國際歷史競賽秋季北京賽

11月23日，2019 國際歷史學術活動秋季北京賽在清華附中國際部舉行，來自八所學校的80余名學生受邀參賽。本屆學術活動由清華附中國際部和國際學術學術活動（IAC）聯合承辦。

The 2019 Beijing History Bee and Bowl was held at THIS on November 23rd, welcoming over 80 students from 8 different schools. It was held in partnership with the International Academic Competitions (IAC), which sponsors buzzer-based academic competitions in 25 different countries around the globe.

*國際學術學術活動在全球25個國家承辦中小學各項學術活動。該組織的使命是向世界各地的學生提供創新、激勵、公平的學術活動機會，獎勵出眾的學術成就，鼓勵學生向更深領域探索。

International Academic Competitions is a consortium of competitions for primary and secondary students operating in over 25 countries around the world. IAC’s mission is to reward academic excellence by bringing innovative, stimulating, fair, and relevant competition opportunities to students around the world. Academic competitions have a unique role to play in the education of students by encouraging them to explore new areas of knowledge while rewarding achievement inside the classroom.

參賽隊伍根據國際學術學術活動的比賽章程，分為高中高級組（11年級和12年級）、高中初級組（9年級和10年級），以及初中組。本屆比賽作為資格賽，將直接影響今年的國際歷史亞洲錦標賽。

In accordance with IAC tournament procedures, teams were split into three divisions, Varsity (11th and 12th grade), Junior Varsity (9th and 10th grade), and Middle school divisions. As a result, this competition will serve qualification tournament for the International History Bee and Bowl Asian Championships.

團體賽

International History Bowl

上午8:20，五輪團體預賽率先展開。選手個個實力出眾，難分伯仲。清華附中國際部的兩支隊伍位列高中高級組，分別以3-2和4-1的大比分，順利晉級半決賽。

The tournament kicked off at 8:20 AM with five rounds of preliminary Bowl (team) rounds, with many close games decided by the last question. In the Varsity division, where both THIS teams were located, scores were so tight that qualification into the semi-finals had to be decided by a tiebreaker. THIS A and THIS B, with a comfortable scores of 3-2 and 4-1 respectively, advanced to the semis.

半決賽中，國際部A組險勝巴基斯坦使館學校，提前鎖定決賽席位；國際部B組在比賽中發揮失常，無緣總決賽。在三四名的爭奪賽中，國際部B組大比分戰勝巴基斯坦使館學校，獲得團體賽第三名。國際部A組在總決賽中惜敗對手，獲得團體賽第二名。

Although THIS B performed the best in the Prelims, they were surprisingly beaten in the semifinal, while THIS A defeated the Pakistan Embassy School in another close match. THIS B, although feeling hopeless after the surprising loss, recovered their Spartan spirits and secured third with a resounding victory over Pakistan Embassy School. Although not Champions, THIS secured second and third place, an impressive performance nonetheless.

個人賽

International History Bee

另一邊，個人賽也在如火如荼地進行。清華附中國際部的Anneke Bentham同學憑借預賽最高分21分，成功晉級決賽。決賽中，她以沉著的心態和豐富的知識儲備獲得了個人賽第三名的好成績。

In the Bee (individual) competition, Anneke Bentham of THIS A blazed through the prelims with the highest prelim score of 21 points into the Finals.She made a clutch buzz, and with an eager yet collected shout of “Mecca!”, secured herself the third place.

國際歷史學術活動

History Bee & Bowl

本屆國際歷史學術活動較去年比有了質的飛躍，參賽隊伍以接近三倍的速度，從6支增長到17支。相信在清華附中國際部的帶領下，北京的各類學術學術活動項目將會繼續蓬勃發展。

The 2019 Fall Beijing History and Bowl was a great leap from last year’s Beijing History Bee and Bowl, jumping from 6 teams to 17, nearly tripling in size. With more tournaments scheduled in the upcoming semester, future of History Bowl and Quizbowl in Beijing, spearheaded by THIS, is looking brighter than ever.
