At Shanghai American School, our students benefit from the practices of leading educators well-versed in how to best address students’ ever-evolving needs.

But there are some SAS practices that we believe could benefit all students.

Take digital device usage, for example. At SAS, our counselors and tech coaches have collaborated to create a programmatic approach to digital citizenship – one that provides an opportunity for both students and teachers to engage in conversation and reflection around digital balance, digital life vs. reality, social media, etc. These are lessons that are important for the broader Shanghai community to know. So that’s exactly where we’ve taken the message.

以使用電子設備為例。在上海美國學校，我們的輔導員和技術教練攜手合作，以程序化的方法應對數字公民身份這一話題——讓老師和學生有機會圍繞數字平衡、數字生活與現實、社交媒體等開展對話，進行反思。這些經驗應該讓更多在上海的人知道。而我們正是這樣做的。

On Wednesday, K-12 tech coordinator Annalee Higginbottom and school counselor Jennifer Joseph, both from SAS’ Pudong campus, were invited by Shanghai United Family to take the stage at a “Clinician’s Corner” event alongside Dr. Sharon Yen, a clinical psychologist, to discuss Internet Addiction Disorder.

周三，來自上海美國學校浦東校區的K-12技術協調員Annalee Higginbottom和學校輔導員Jennifer Joseph受到上海和睦家新城醫院的邀請，參加“Clinician’s Corner”活動，與臨床心理學家Sharon Yen博士一起討論網絡成癮綜合癥。

The invitation offered an opportunity to help families see beyond the “all or nothing” mindset. We believe it’s important for all students to find balance in this digital world with their devices, and for students and parents to understand how to use them in a way that is beneficial.

這次活動給大家提供了一個機會，擺脫“全都有或全都沒有”的思維。我們相信，所有學生都應當在數字時代的設備使用過程中找到平衡，學生和家長需要理解如何以有益的方式使用電子設備。
