As one of the 25th Anniversary Series Activities, the lecture series gave all Grade 9 students the opportunities to enjoy two fabulous lectures on December 12th.
Lecture aboutBeijing Opera
On December 12th, the famous Beijing Opera actor Wang Peiyu gave an excellent lecture about Beijing Opera, and students had an hour of great fun with her.
Wang Peiyu had a humorous tone when speaking and gradually taught the students about Beijing opera's history and how it had influenced nowadays society. She said that one example of the development of China's first movie even assimilated skills from the acting of Beijing Opera. After she informed the basics to the students, she taught them about the concept of "read" and "sing" when performing the play. When she was acting out parts of the play, her beautiful voice amazed the audience and they all exclaimed. Wang Peiyu also prepared different kinds of acting activities and invited students up to the stage to act them out, making the lecture even more amusing.

Overall, Wang Peiyu hopes that Beijing Opera can pass from generations and generations, and that more people can know about this gorgeous kind of art performance. She may open a Beijing Opera drama club in SHSID too, and we are all looking forward to this. Thanks to Wang Peiyu for coming and giving us such an astonishing lecture!
12月12日下午，九年級的同學們來到了大禮堂的戲劇廳聆聽著名京劇演員王珮瑜老師的講座。王珮瑜老師先向同學們詳細介紹了京劇這一國粹的來源發展與特點，隨后她親自表演了不同唱法和不同種類的著名京劇片段。同學們也積極參與了互動，嘗試了京劇“上馬”的動作，跟著王珮瑜老師學唱了《趙氏孤兒》的片段，并用京劇的語調表演了現代的流行語。

通過這次與京劇的近距離接觸，同學們對京劇有了更深的了解。京劇并非只屬于老一輩的藝術形式，而是值得我們傳承的中國傳統文化。

Lecture “Fly me to the Dream”
On December 12th, SHSID Grade 9 students listen to a speech given by Mr. Zhao Yi Ou,a television host who has hosted shows like “The Generation Show” and “I’m not star”, and is famous around China forhis fun personality and interesting TV shows. Mr. Zhao, in his speech “Fly meto the dream,” hopes to inspire us young high schoolers to pursue our dreams.
Mr. Zhao talked about his experience going through the arduous physical training in working to become a pilot, which helped him realize that this was never his dream. He read many books on directing and acting during his time at the academy and finally decided to reach for his real ambition—television. He entered the Shanghai Television Academy, majoring in directing, and finally got to work for what he loved. Mr. Zhao also inspired the students by telling them that everyone starts from the bottom—even the most famous and celebrated stars of today first started acting in minor roles of movies. We must also pursue a hobby that we love and appreciate for a long time. His speech certainly provided insight for us freshmen on pursuing our goals and aspirations.
12月12號的下午，九年級的學生聚集在小學部禮堂，聆聽趙屹鷗先生分享年少時的空軍學員經歷以及在成為著名導演之路上的點點滴滴。趙先生在少年時代曾經接受過嚴厲的空軍培訓，每天都會遇到種種困難，還必須經歷跳傘等的各種極限挑戰，然而趙先生沒有輕易放棄，反而選擇勇敢地面對挑戰，榮幸成為了第一批大學本科飛行員。遺憾的是，半年之后，趙屹鷗先生的視力明顯下降，當時迷茫的他不幸地被結束了飛行員生涯。而在那段艱苦的日子里，他發現了自己對表演的喜愛，于是他堅持閱讀大量有關話劇、導演、歷史、建筑等方面的書籍，年僅十八歲的他確定了自己對戲劇與表演的熱情與追求。趙先生告訴大家，夢想與現實差距甚遠，人們必須靠一步步的努力慢慢積累，拼湊起一片片零散的碎片，才能逐漸靠近自己的夢想。趙先生以現場解答的形式一一回應了同學們對于如何堅持愛好、走向成功等問題，最后分享會在同學們的歡呼聲與熱烈的掌聲中畫上了圓滿的句號。
